The Educational Service is not actually a service, but it does have a mission. It is not a school, but people do learn things there. Questions are asked, and they receive answers that are questions. Or suggestions for travel, or new languages to speak. It is not an after-school activities club, but it does occupy people’s time. By inventing names for some things and changing the names of others. It is not grandma's house - but it does smell good. The Educational Service belongs to everyone and is for everyone. It cultivates the unimaginable, because the future is unimaginable and it is the future that we want to build. With artists, teachers, boys, parents, and grandparents. With people. With people who want to think and make our cities places that we can live well in. The arts, artists and the Educational Service aren’t going to save the world; because the world doesn’t need to be saved. The world needs a green sun, a moon as clear as a magnifying glass and gardens where there are reflections of broken glass.

In 2006, the educational service’s team launched its manifesto through the LURA journal. Today, after 13 years, we have assumed another name, and expanded our premises, but the mission, outlook and concerns remain the same.
The Educational and Cultural Mediation service, or EMC, works on stages, in gardens, in museums, in squares and in many places. Everywhere with space for attention, curiosity and generosity. The EMC works with different people - big, small, new, old - a lot of world has already been seen and a lot remains to be discovered.
The September'19 - July'20 programme that we drew up and share here, gathers all the information that we have considered to be important to learn more about our work over the coming months. But our work doesn’t exist without you. It will be your presence - now, and in the future - that will make sense of this trajectory.
